A couple of months ago, Nats and I went to NYC (you can see some piks of our trip here) and walking through Nolita; we found Kelsey Montague’s street mural. A drawing of a pair of wings that invites the public to become part of the art itself, and of course we had to take a picture and be as touristy as we could. For many people, this is just the perfect spot for an #instagrammoment, but as we walked away, it made me think deeper about the power of her message. The wings are meant to symbolize ways of being lifted, she even created the hashtag #whatliftsyou and started a positive conversation that had people talking about what inspire them in life. Her message definitely resonated with me.

What-Lifts-You– Three simple words that have so much power in them. They made me think about the things that really matter in life, even the setbacks. I took these 3 words to heart and made a list of things that lift my spirit…Yes, I’m one of those weirdos that make a list for EVERYTHING. This quick exercise reminded me of how lucky I am, and how much I should be thankful for.
Here are a few of the things that made it to my list:
- My mother laughter
- My niece’s fearless attitude
- A finished project at work
- Traveling to new places
- Finishing a book
- Honest friendships
- Women supporting each other
- A good glass of wine
- Our Blog
- Crossing things from my to-do list
Thinking about what lifts me; made me more aware of my passions and reminded me that I need to do more of those things, and surround myself with those who lift my spirit. You should try this exercise and find out what empowers you, what ignites your passions and what makes you truly happy. And you? What lifts you?
