Empowered Women in Small Business Spotlight: Julieta R.

November is National Small Business month; a month dedicated to celebrating the contributions and successes to those who are small business owners and are growing the nations’ economy. In honor of this month, Kats and I decided to create the Empowered Women in Small Business Spotlight series. We collaborated with an amazing group of fiercely talented women entrepreneurs, who have shown us that with passion, love, and resilience anything is possible.  These successful women entrepreneurs are creating better lives for themselves and paving the path for tomorrow’s women business owners, while also becoming powerful contributors to gender equality. We hope you get inspired by their stories, and that you remember that any dream can become a reality if you work hard...

The C Word…

October is right around the corner and that means not only is Halloween near (side note: I love dressing up lol) but it’s also breast cancer awareness month, which has always been an event my family and I like to be part of. My cousin, Lisa, works at a cancer center so we have always tried to be involved as much as we can, but this year is just a little bit more special to my family because we have two very special people to celebrate…my mom and my aunt! Now that my mom and my family have gone through this I want people that have been or are going through this to know that they are not alone! We are all...

Discover Your Beauty!

Last Sunday, Kats and I were lucky enough to attend the Discover your Beauty Show; A show dedicated to Cancer survivors that invites a group of new designers to showcase their talents while supporting a good cause. The show donates part of the money to those battling and surviving Cancer. Let me just start by saying What a show! OMG!! It was amazing! I found out about this show through my husband, when he registered to be a volunteer photographer. I was obviously intrigued and eager to help, so Kats and I decided to sign up as well. This show takes place every year, so be on the lookout for next year if you are interested :) All donations made, go to cancer foundations...

Millennial Moms: Melanie Gnecco

Melaa! A great friend, great mother, great sister, great wife, and who has all other great qualities you can think of! What’s funny is that we actually met in high school, but we became close after we graduated. Kat started working in the same company as Melanie, and their friendship got stronger. This led to us spending time together, also such as birthdays, dinners, etc...

Millennial Moms: Fabiola Marquez

Fabsssss is one of my oldest friends!! I literally even consider her my sister! We met in the 3rd grade and have been friends ever since. She used to sleep over at my house almost every weekend, and she would come to all my family gatherings. We used to do everything together. Since we spent so much time together, we obviously talked all the time. For this reason, I know everything Fabiola has been through, and how she has grown to be an excellent mother! From the very first day I met her, she knew, without a doubt, exactly what she wanted in life. She always said, “I will graduate high school, go to school to become a nurse, and...

Empowered Women Spotlight: LuisaMaria Jaramillo

My cousin LuisaMaria is just one of many people that have been part of the DACA program or better known as the DREAM ACT. For those who may not know the meaning of this act, a DREAMER is a person who was brought to the United States as a child, has attended school here, and has been continually living here since. The actual name for the policy is DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) and it was passed by the Obama Administration in June of 2012. There are many criteria that have to be met in order to qualify, which will allow the person to obtain a work permit for a period of 2 years before it has to be renewed. ...

Empowered Women Spotlight: Shirley Medina

I met Shirley when her family moved to Florida while we were in middle school. Our families have known each other for a while since they both lived in New York at one point. Shirley and I have never lost touch with one another, to the point where we now consider each other family. Shirley has grown to be a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, and friend! When Kat and I decided to do this "Women Empowered Spotlights" I automatically thought of her! Everyone has their story and their struggles of how they got to where they are now, but this girl has blown my mind with hers. I have personally witnessed her become the strong woman she is today. I wanted...

5 Style Essentials Every Woman Should Own

When I decided to write this post, I started thinking about my everyday essentials, and it seemed like there are five pieces that continue to stay on my must-have list. I believe these items go with any type of personality and style. I have owned these kinds of pieces even during my emo phase ( yup, I was a mix of emo/punk/bohemian/ combined kinda gal), and I still rock them now that my style has definitely evolved. Trends are great, but I'm not a big fan of spending much on them. Instead, I usually invest in a few one-of-a-kind pieces that can go with everything, and I can wear many times without getting bored of them. I feel the items below are essentials for any woman who wants...
