Millennial Moms: Luisa F. Alzate

I decided to close the Millenial moms series with one of my great friends, Luisa. I met Luisa when I was in high school through my cousin and throughout the years, she has become family. I can say she is one of the most dedicated people I know, and everything she puts her mind to she achieves. I remember when she decided to become a nurse, there was no one who could interrupt her study sessions, but somehow, she managed to still make time for her friends. Our friendship continued even when she decided to move to New York and start from zero with the love of her life. I know there were a lot of struggles, especially when she...

My Go-to Inspirational Talks from Empowered Women

In Honor of International Women's Day, I’ve decided to share my top favorite talks given by empowered women. These speeches are all different, but they all have one thing in  common; They are given by inspiring women who have had to speak louder to get their voices heard. Throughout the years these talks have helped me to lift my spirit when I have needed it the most ( personally and professionally) and have inspired me to move forward in despite of challenges. Each of these women somehow are making a change in the world. Their acts have become motivation, their deeds have become an inspiration and their eloquent speeches have become words of encouragement for so many other women. I hope...

Our First Year of Blogging!

Today, marks one year since we launched our blog! Apparently, most bloggers quit before they get to the year point so it’s a big deal to celebrate your one year blogging anniversary! Hoy cumplimos un año desde que lanzamos nuestro blog! Aparentemente, la mayoría de blogueros renuncian a escribir antes de llegar al año, así que para nosotras es una gran meta poder celebrar nuestro primer aniversario! When Nats and I started talking about creating something together (years and years ago), we used to see it as a wishful thought, but then life pushed us to get ourselves out of our comfort zone and start with something! It didn't matter we weren't fully ready, or that we knew nothing about blogging- the...

Baby on Board!!

I am so happy to finally be able to share this exciting news, which by the way was sooooo hard to hide, especially when you have ALL-DAY sickness. I refuse to call it morning sickness when it’s an all-day thing! Even through the sickness, I am staying positive because of the beautiful gift it comes along with. I am 3 months pregnant and my husband and I are beyond excited and grateful for this new chapter in our lives. We still can’t believe it’s real LOL. God’s timing is so Perfect! It was an amazing gift for both of our families, and we were so thrilled to announce it on a beautiful day, which was Thanksgiving; A day to stop...

Empowered Women in Small Business Spotlight: Daughters Legacy

November is National Small Business month; a month dedicated to celebrating the contributions and successes to those who are small business owners and are growing the nations’ economy. In honor of this month, Nats and I decided to create the Empowered Women in Small Business Spotlight series. We collaborated with an amazing group of fiercely talented women entrepreneurs, who have shown us that with passion, love, and resilience anything is possible.  These successful women entrepreneurs are creating better lives for themselves and paving the path for tomorrow’s women business owners, while also becoming powerful contributors to gender equality. We hope you get inspired by their stories, and that you remember that any dream can become a reality if you work hard...

Beat the Impostor Syndrome!

I have been within the same company for around 6 years, and it took me a while to feel that I belong.  After some years, I started to feel more comfortable and my confidence increased. However, there were still times where the thoughts of me not belonging still reappeared. I work with brilliant people and sometimes I found myself asking if they are going to find out that I am not as smart or talented as they are. I have felt like a fraud.

The Comfort Zone- Where Magic Never Happens!

It took me a few years to realize how easy it was to stay in my comfort zone without taking any risks. Getting out of the comfort zone is not an easy thing to do, but it is one of the most important steps to grow. Having a “safety net” (family, friendships or a significant other) has allowed me to be successful when getting out of my comfort zone, as keeping stability and peace of mind to think about my next move, has been the most important ingredient to my recipe for success. My stability/safety net is my family, and in order for me to take any risk, I constantly remind myself that they will be there no matter the outcome....

Empowered Women Spotlight: Shirley Medina

I met Shirley when her family moved to Florida while we were in middle school. Our families have known each other for a while since they both lived in New York at one point. Shirley and I have never lost touch with one another, to the point where we now consider each other family. Shirley has grown to be a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, and friend! When Kat and I decided to do this "Women Empowered Spotlights" I automatically thought of her! Everyone has their story and their struggles of how they got to where they are now, but this girl has blown my mind with hers. I have personally witnessed her become the strong woman she is today. I wanted...
